Description
One of the only wines in France actually named more for the grape than the place,Picpoul de Pinetrefers to the white wines made exclusively from the grape called Piquepoul Blanc in theLanguedoccommunes of Pinet, Mze, Florensac, Castelnau-de-Guers, Montagnac and Pomrols. Confusingly, the spelling, Piquepoul, can be used for the variety in all other appellations except for those named above. The grape is ubiquitous throughout the Languedoc as a single varietal wine or in blends.
Tasting Notes for Picpoul
Picpoul (Piquepoul Blanc) is a dry, white wine with a pale gold hue and green reflections. Fragrant and light-bodied, it bursts with aromas of white flowers and candied lemon. Flavors are lean and crisp, reminiscent of white peach, melon and lime zest.
Winemaker Notes
A classic example of why Picpoul is fondly referred to as the “Muscadet of the Midi.”
