Origins & Craftsmanship

Distilled in 2009 at the Dalmore Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland, this single malt was matured for 15 years. It begins life in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and is then finished in hand-selected Matusalem sherry casks and Grahams 10-year-old tawny port pipes. It is bottled at 48.9 % ABV and carries the distillerys hallmark of natural colour and non-chill filtration.

• In a review, critic Christopher Null (of Drinkhacker) awarded it a score of 9.5/10, noting: A rich chocolate and hazelnut character dominate the nose the nuttiness is again clear and heavy on the palate, the finish finds coffee and more hazelnuts the decadent richness lingers.

• According to a review in Whisky Advocate, the 2009 Select Edition received a score of 94 points, with reviewer Julia Higgins describing it as: fragrant nose of stone fruit, clementine, rose-water and clove; palate with flourless chocolate cake, red berries, caramel and candied nuts; finish with wood-spice and lingering red fruit.
