“The Hennessy distillery was founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy, who retired to the Cognac region of France after serving in the army of King Louis XV. His son, James Hennessy, established the company’s trading name, Jas Hennessy & Co., in 1813 and appointed the first Master Blender, creating a legacy that has since been passed down through the Hennessy and Fillioux families.”
