Spirit Drink 40 Year Old 1978 (Private Label) Blended Grain Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Hearty layers of toffee apple and dense malt join sticky ginger cake, with sweet notes of French toast, drizzled with maple syrup and a dusting of cinnamon. Beneath, there are robust layers of earthy old oak, cigar box spice, and caramelised demerara.
Palate: Silky, slick maple syrup lifts dense layers of robust barley, buttery grain, and hearty old oak, with melted toffee and chocolate praline in tow. Fluffy pancakes join in time, drizzled with sweet syrup, berries, and spice.
Finish: Antique oak and rich, sweet maple combine in spectacular fashion, with a perfect balance of nutty sweetness and a silky soft texture, lasting layers of creamy mocha, tobacco, chewy malt, and old oak.
Distillery Information
“As far back as the fourth century B.C. Aristotle suggested the possibility of spirit distillation when he wrote: “Seawater can be made potable by distillation as well and wine and other liquids can be submitted to the same process.”. It is an age-old process which may have began as early as 2000 BC.”
