Bokisch Terra Alta Vineyard Albarino

Markus and Liz Bokisch have been producing award-winning Spanish varietals since the early 2000s. With hearts and heritage of Spain, their inspiration to produce Spanish varietal wines in California began by directly importing budwood from select vineyards in Spain, thus creating Bokisch Vineyards, nestled in the Clements Hills of the Lodi AVA. They began making wine from their estate grown and organically farmed fruit in 2000.

Vineyards

This wine was produced from organically farmed and green certified vineyards planted in Volcanic Gravelly Clay Loam soils. The Lodi Rules for Sustainable Winegrowing Practices is the most recognized, third-party vineyard certification program in the industry. To qualify, a grower must pass rigorous, yearly audits which address every aspect of land stewardship. To become certified green, a grower must monitor and record their farming practices and achieve a minimum, quantifiable score in several categories. These categories include, efficient water use, efficient energy use, reduced pesticide use, air quality enhancement, ecosystem enhancement, employee training and community involvement to name a few.

Vinification

98% Albarino, 2% Garnacha Blanca.

The wine is vinified in stainless steel to retain freshness and then rested for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes

Bokisch’s flagship Albarino sparkles in your glass with a soft gold colour. It features pleasant aromas of green Pippin apple, pineapple juice, and almond blossom. This wine tickles your palate with flavors of pleasant Granny Smith apple, soft citrus, fresh tangerines, and ripe stone fruit. Its brilliant acidity leans into a long and refreshing finish.

This is a really versatile wine to pair with all sorts of seafood.
