Benrinnes
Benrinnes Distillery was established by Peter Mackenzie in 1826 on the north-west shoulder of Ben RinnsMountain and until the advent of modern road transport systems Benrinnes Distillery was rather isolated. Only a small percentage of Benrinnes malt whisky is released as Benrinnes single malt including Benrinnes Flora & Fauna. Since 1956 distillation at Benrinnes followed an unusual and complex partial triple distillation process but this was replaced by double distillation around 2010. Benrinnes Distillery is one of the few Scottish distilleries continuing to cool its spirit in traditional worm tubs and is a participant in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
Nose: Strong honey and heather. Intense maltwith hints of spice and lemon.
Palate: Full-bodied, robust and oily-smooth. Malted biscuitswith rich honey then lingering pepper and spice.
Finish: Rich and complex.
