A Bordeaux Pt Nat made with 100% Merlot; the winemakers describe this one as ‘dangerously delicious’ and we’d have to agree! It has flavours of tart raspberry and rhubarb, a slight green herbaceous note of strawberry leaf, anda touchof graphite-y minerality. On the palate, there’s a fine effervescence and light tannic grip that render it well for pairing with nibbles and cheese. A perfect wine for all times of the year, with the freshness and vivacity for a baking summer’s day or the complexity and depth for a cosy winter’s evening.
Chateau Picoron is owned by an Australian family who has converted the vineyard and wine-making practices to organic. The Kalyk family is on a mission to produce hand-made wines that are both high quality and great value, expressing the true heritage of the Bordeaux region and its traditional grape varieties.
