ORGANIC/BIODYNAMIC/VEGAN/LOW SULPHITE
This is a rich and expressive Rioja, made in a way that celebrates the grapes and region to their fullest. On the nose there is vanilla and baking spices, as well as a woody cedar note. On the palate it is balanced, with bright red fruit flavours and well-integrated, fine tannins, as well as a long, rich finish.Only 960 bottles of this astounding Rioja were produced, with the grapes coming from a century old, one hectare vineyard; where they are hand-harvested and aged in French Oak barrels to lend structure and depth to the finished product.
Originally from Hawaii, Melanie Hickman farms in the most traditional way possible: using a horse for the ploughing, crushing the grapes using foot stomping, and harvesting in accordance with biodynamic principles. Her wines are elegant and precise, and can stand up against the very best.
