Description

Holden Manz Chenin Blanc 2022 is crafted from meticulously hand-selected grapes sourced from three vineyards along the Stellenbosch/Paarl border and Perdeberg, all grown on bush vines over 40 years old. The grapes are carefully cooled to 5C before undergoing a Champagne crush cycle, ensuring gentle extraction. Clarified juice is then transferred by gravity to both barrels and tanks for fermentation, where wild yeast fermentation takes place. Notably, 20% of the wine is vinified and matured in a mix of new and second-fill French oak barrels, with the entire batch being continuously stirred on its fine lees. Bottled at 14.5%. Nose: A vibrant bouquet unfolds with delicate aromas of crisp apple and pear, intermingled with hints of tropical and stone fruits. Subtle floral notes and an undercurrent of toasted oak and spice lend added depth and intrigue.

Palate: On the palate, the wine is lively and expressive, showcasing layers of juicy orchard and citrus fruit that exude freshness and balance. The texture is refined, reflecting the careful oak influence without overpowering the natural vibrancy of the fruit.

Finish: The finish is refreshingly persistent, defined by a bright acidity that enlivens the lingering fruit notes and a whisper of oak nuance that leaves a clean, elegant impression.
