Description
Spot on, classic red Burgundy. Fresh enough to chill down a bit, but with a complexity that belies its Cte d’Or classification. We detect classic markers of Marsannay, like pure red fruit, a hint of earthiness and leather, and a supple, unfussy structure. Laurent Fournier’s Cte d’Or Pinot Noir is the perfect way to get to know his work. It’s from 10-50 year old vines in about eight different vineyards (including some fruit from Les Longerois). There’s a minimal use of oak the wine gets enough to breathe during lvage, but not enough to impart oaky flavors or tannins. The result is a wine that is pure and focused like his top wines, but straight up delicious from a young age too.
