Description: Jean-Paul Brun’s old vine Beaujolais is from four hectares of vines in the slightly warmer Pierres Dores. This is a vibrant and gutsy wine with notes of spice and strawberry that follow through on the palate. The finish is wonderfully long, with lingering raspberries and strawberries balanced with fine tannins. Jean-Paul uses no maceration carbonique (the fermentation process associated with most Beaujolais) and no oak. Instead, vinification has a Burgundian feel, with a cold soaking of the grapes and a light “pigeage” to extract colour and flavour from the skins.
