From Santa Barbara County, California, this 2023 “Clima Fro” Syrah by The Ojai Vineyard draws fruit from two distinct cooler-climate sitesone in the Sta. Rita Hills and another just west of Los Alamos. The vineyards benefit from ocean-influenced temperatures and long ripening seasons that preserve freshness and depth. Whole or partial whole-cluster fermentation (depending on lot) and careful oak aging facilitate textural complexity and preserve site character. The intention: a Rhne-style Syrah with coastal California vitality and precision.
