Description
Located in the Pyrenees mountain town of Treseserre at 650 feet elevation, Domaine Vacquer overlooks Collioure and the Mediterranean sea. The vicious Tramontane wind of the regions whips through Frdrique’s garrique-covered vines, including old plantings of Carignan, planted just after WWII en gobelet and worked without machines, only by hand.
This is a soft and supple wine, typical of Fernands style.
A blend of 80% Carignan and 20% Grenache Noir which is fermented then aged for two years in cement vats.
There is initial structure but after such a long period of ageing, the tannins are very mellow. It lingers on the palate but this is more down to the aromas of leather and jammy fruit than the structure
