Description
Santiago Ruiz, from the Atlantic coastal Rias Baixas region, is mostly Albario with the addition of a few other native varietals to add brightness, weight and acidity. Unoaked, it is focused and pure with excellent flavors and length. One of our best selling Albarios for years!
Santiago Ruiz was universally recognized as the Father of Albario. In 1984, Santiago Ruiz crafted an elegant and complex wine using the typical varieties of Ras Baixas and bottled it with a label that continues to inspire us today to live with authenticity, doing what truly excites us. That is the spirit of Santiago Ruiz.
A Label with a Story: Over 50 years ago, Isabel Ruiz, the eldest daughter of Santiago, celebrated her wedding at the family estate. To help guests find their way to the San Miguel de Tabagn winery, she decided to draw a map. Her father was delighted with this thoughtful gesture for the guests, and it has endured to this day as the label for Santiago Ruiz.
Tasting Notes:
The wine is clean, bright, with straw-colored hues. Aromatically, it is lively, expressive, and very complex, with floral aromas typical of Albario, Godello, Treixadura, and Loureiro, along with fruity and mineral notes. On the palate, it is complex, elegant, full-bodied, and well-balanced, with a delicious entry and very pleasant freshness. It will evolve very positively in the bottle over the coming months.
