Description
This single vineyard is tucked above the gentle flow of the River Orcia and the hilltop Castelnuovo dellAbate at 250 metres altitude. Here the strata of soils here are mix of iron-rich clay and galesto, filled with calcareous marine fossils. Wild fermentation took place in concrete, with 30 days on skins followed by 36 months in botti. The wine is softly coloured, and the nose is perfumed with ivy, pink pepper and cool rose. The palate is compact and detailed with a pomegranate bite, earthy layers of smoky minerals and neat, chalky tannins. This is super stylish.
