Heres a beautiful example of what was possible with chardonnay in Burgundy in 2021: stunning aromatic complexity flint, ripe lemon, fresh pineapple plus touches of mint and elderflower is married to a very elegant medium-bodied palate with a wonderful silkiness. The long delicately chalky finish is precisely underlined by fine tannins. Already delicious! Sustainable. Drink or hold.
About This Wine
Beaune du Chteau Blanc is an exclusive cuve of Bouchard Pre & Fils, produced since 1907. It is a blend of several Beaune Premier Cru vineyards, with each parcel vinified separately before blending. The wine is sourced from four Premier Cru climats: Aigrots, Tuvilains, Sizies, and Sur les Grves, selected for their complementary qualities.
The vineyards are east to south-east facing, with soils composed of limestone, clay, and marls in varying proportions depending on the parcel. Grapes are manually harvested in small 13 kg cases and carefully sorted by hand. Pressing is carried out in two stages, beginning with evacuation of the first juice, followed by pressing in two-hour cycles.
The wine is aged for 910 months in French oak, with up to 15% new oak depending on the vintage, followed by a further 34 months in stainless steel vats.
