Producer Information
Azienda Agricola Ciccio Zaccagnini (often called Cantina Zaccagnini) is a leading producer with more 300 hectares (740 acres) of vineyards based at Bolognano in the Abruzzo region of Central Italy. The flagship wine is the San Clemente Terre di Casauria Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva, which is aged for 15 months in new barriques, and a further six months in bottle. A San Clemente white is also made from Trebbiano, Pecorino and Passerina. The wide-ranging portfolio includes several more tiers of still wines, featuring further Montepulcianos in IGT and DOC guises, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Abruzzo Bianco blends of varying compositions, varietal wines from Pecorino and Passerina, plus several Cerasuolos (dark ross). Three sparkling wines are also made; a Bianco Extra Dry and Rosato under the Aster label, and the Plaisir Moscato Dolce. Two red and one white passito wines, plus a range of acquavite, a grappa and a Genziana (gentian) spirit complete the line up.
