Description

First scents of black pepper, vanilla then floral and spicy touches. Old leather and citrus tip. The nose is on hazelnut, toast, anise, white flowers and mint. Silky and voluptuous mouthfeel, sweet bitter, nuances of black caramel and almond. Assembly very well melted. Alcohol does not dominate. Very nice length in the mouth. To savor with a Cohiba.

Indicative blend of Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard, and Montils

Soil: Chalk-limestone

Vineyards & Viticulture: Blends are made from the finest Cognacs of the two premier districts of the Cognac area. Equal Blend of Grandes and Petites Champagnes.

Harvest & Vinification: Aged briefly in new barrels, then transferred to used oak. This blend is a mix of eaux-de-vie with and without lees. Blended after 12 to 30 years, then left for two years before final bottling. This cognac contains no additives, sugar, or caramel. Light filtration.

About the producer
The Cognac house of A. Edmond Audry was founded in 1878 by the great-great-grandfather of the current owner, Parisian lawyer Bernard Boisson. In the early 1950s, Audry stopped selling Cognac, but some very old stocks were held back in reserve with the hope the house would rise again one day. That day came in 1978, when Bernard resurrected the dormant family estate. Audry is now made by a master blender who combines the ancient reserve with a few lots bought from a select group of Charentais growers. Audry Cognacs are among the world’s finest, and the original stocks allow them to produce a very high-quality, artisanal selection of Cognacs.
