This cake, made exclusively from succulent Dottato of Consenza DOP figs, will delight fig enthusiasts with its dense, chewy, and sweet texture. The region of Calabria in southern Italy boasts this fig variety, which is renowned for its honey-sweet fragrance, luscious flesh, and tiny seeds. Artibel cultivates their own Dottato figs in the Cosenza province, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. These figs are hand-harvested at the end of summer and sun-dried on mats, intensifying their sweet flavors. After being fully dried, the figs are minced and compressed together to create this fragrant cake.
