INFO
A dual release, APW No. 3 will consist of a 15YO and 9YO bourbon. Like Derek and his brother David, these two bourbons shared the same parents (distillery) and DNA (mashbill) – distilled from a grain bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley.
They tasted many great bourbons for this release, but these two stood out as special. Derek added, Like brothers, they came from the same place but their different life experiences resulted in their unique character. Thats what makes these bottles so fun to drink, especially side by side.
APW Release No. 3B took the road less traveled. After four years in its initial home, it moved to the ground floor of the longest rickhouse of its kind for five additional years. The cooler, more humid conditions slowed the aging process and naturally reduced the proof, resulting in one of the lowest barrel-strength whiskeys in recent memory – 97.5 proof (48.75% ABV) – with a smooth, full-bodied finish.
THE DISTILLERY
Ain’t It A Shame…
that so many people are buying great bottles of bourbon but are too afraid to open them because they are collectible? Bourbon used to be about enjoying and experiencing the liquid. How did this fear of opening start and how can we make it stop?
At APW, we believe bottles containing the worlds most coveted brown spirits should be cracked, not collected. With every release exclusively at 200ml to fit in your back pocket – our size lets you break the seal without breaking the bank.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE: maraschino cherries, orange peel, sun-dried plums, mild breadiness, subtle maple notes MID: honeycomb toffee, vanilla taffy, black tea, hints of white pepper FIN: robust tropical herbs and earthiness that swells into a lingering leather
