Mead is an authentic Irish drink. It was originally made by monks centuries ago with fermented honey and water for ancient Celtics. It made it’s way into royal banquets and the courts of the Four Kings of Ireland. No meal was complete without mead.
According to Irish tradition, honey-based drink was said to possess powers of virility and fertility, and it became customary for newlyweds to drink mead for one full moon after their wedding. Hence, honeymoon.
Bunratty Meade uses white wine, honey, and herbs for their special concoction; and their spelling difference is reserved just for them. The white wine gives it a good balanced level of dryness with a semi-sweet finish.The best way to enjoy this is served chilled and over ice.
Pairings include Nashville style hot chicken, spicy foods with Thai level heat, herb roasted poultry, and rich and heavy BBQ.
