Chateau Tour Saint Christophe is located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes at the frontiers of Saint-Emilion. This property was acquired by Peter Kwok and his daughter Karen in 2012 and overlooks beautiful centuries-old drystone terraces on a clay-limestone terroir. About 1.5 km of dry-stone terraces have been repaired by hand, a two-year process to preserve the appearance of these unique terraces of Saint-Emilion. 60,000 bottles of wine made of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc are producedevery year. The wine is matured for 15 months in 40% new French oak barrels, 40% of 1 year-old and 20% of 2 year-old barrels. Les Terrasses de Tour Saint Christophe is a wine made from the young vines that do not go into the grand vin.Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2015 has a deep red color nearly approaching the black. The first notes show minerality, sitting on very ripe red fruit. Then, spicy wood notes somewhat reminiscent of a cigar box / which are not unlike the nose of a box cigar. After airing the spicy part grows to almost camphorated notes. The fruit focuses on a black fruit jam. In the mouth, the attack is on the fruit with an evolution on roundness and the chalky side, typical of our terroir. Endowed with a nice balance and an impressive aromatic delicacy, the freshness and tension are there. The mid-palate remembers the notes of the cigar box. The saline finish characteristic for Tour Saint Christophe, explodes on the fruit.
