Description

Montlaiz is a family winery founded in 1904 in Mendoza, Argentina. They craft thier wines with organic grapes that they grow at the foothill of the imposing Andes mountains. The vineyard have a strong social commitment, helping farmers and associated employees to obtain better working conditions through Fair Trade certification systems.

Another of the company’s fundamental cornerstones is caring for the environment. This starts by measuring and mitigating their CO2 footprint, replacing their matrix of energy consumption by photovoltaic generation systems that allow them process 100% of their raw material using solar energy. Secondly, Montlaiz make their wines in a more efficient and sustainable way, taking care of their resources and protecting the environment.

Vinification

Harvested by hand during the second week of March in their own vineyards in the eastern area of Mendoza, this wine showcases a commitment to quality from the very beginning. The grapes undergo a gentle pressing, and the must is meticulously fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, employing daily pumpovers for optimal extraction of flavours and aromas. The fermentation process is facilitated by carefully selected organic yeasts, isolated from our own vineyards. This thoughtful approach ensures a harmonious and authentic representation of the Criollas grape. Fermentation takes place at temperatures between 24C and 26C, with a total maceration period of 10 days, contributing to the wine’s depth and character.

Tasting Notes

The wine presents a delicate violet colour with bluish reflections. Enjoy the youthful, fresh, and fruity character of this wine, unadorned by oak influences. Soft and rounded tannins define the palate, accompanied by a medium body that enhances the overall drinking experience.
