Derrumbes mezcal is a collection of geographically diverse mezcals that have been hand selected by the brand owners. Stretching from Oaxaca to Michoacan and beyond, each bottle of mezcal is made using different agaves and production methods. We are truely lucky to have access to some of these very small batch producers.
DerrumbesZacatecasis a true time capsual in a bottle. One of the only mezcals that is produced with the Tequilana Weber agave. It is the ancient expression of tequila. Produced in the village of Huitzila, the Banuelos family are only a hand full of mezcal producers in the region to produce mezcal the traditional way. Pit roasted, tahona ground and spontaneously fermented.
AROMA: Mixed berry jam, pine wood, celery, brine, glazed carrot, peanut, prosciutto, light smoke.
TASTE: Sweet and lightly floral, with raspberry, papaya, rosewater, sugarcane syrup, and a bit of chalk. Medium-thin body.
Finish: Cooked agave and alcoholic heat, with touches of ginger, spinach, smoked citrus, paper, and a mild grassy bitterness. Medium length.
