Four Roses Distillery crafts 10 distinct Bourbon recipes at our Distillery, located in Lawrenceburg, and each of them boasts unique flavor characteristics.
Some Bourbon recipes stand on their own as single barrel offerings as well as being mingled with other recipes to create small batch Bourbons. This months recipe, however, is a team player that can only be found in Four Roses Bourbon and Four Roses Small Batch.
Tasting Notes:
Nose:Very oaky/woody, big leather notes, cigars, a very distant hint of red apple, damp soil, one of the darkest noses Ive ever gotten off a bourbon.
Palate:Rich, earthy, oily mouthfeel, peanut and walnut, not nearly as oaky as it smells but still showing a lot of barrel character. Vanilla bean, nutmeg, cinnamon, very pronounced rye mintiness on the back of the palate.
Finish:Super satisfying astringency on the finish, bitter in all the right ways, the minty vibe follows through, medium-long finish, walnut, vanilla, oak, leather are the big notes as it fades off the palate.
