Garrison Brothers Bourbon – Balmorhea

Description

Balmorhea, a Texas State Park, is where underground springs flow up to create natural watering holes. As a tribute, Garrison Brothers created a beautiful expression called Balmorhea.

This expression has been aged for four years in new White American Oak and then transferred to another new American Oak barrel customised by Master Distiller Donnis Todd and aged for another year. The result is a unique, sweet whiskey that the company describesas Bourbon Candy.

Nose:Demerara sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and Fry’s cocoa powder.

Palate: Surprising smack ofcherry followed by the expected vanilla and caramel and chocolate with no hint of bitterness … rather surprisingly.

Finish:Not long but weighty – no doubt due to the high ABV. Very viscous at the end.
