Nikka Coffey Vodka

Description

The Nikka company was set up by one of the Godfathers of Japanese Whisky, Masataka Taketsuru. Masataka was an organic chemist and was the first Japanese man to learn to make whisky in Scotland studying at Hazelburn distillery in Campbell Town. Nikka is now one of the Japanese great producers, making a range whiskies and other spirits in two distilleries, Yoichi situated in the North Island of Hokkaido and Miyagikyo distillery in Aoba-ku, Sendai.

This refined vodka is the purest expression of the signature “Coffey Stills” which produce Nikka Whisky’s outstanding grain whiskies. With decades of experience in distilling white spirits as well as whisky, Nikka’s vodka perfectly captures the extremely smooth and delicate taste of the Coffey-distilled corn and barley spirits. Each spirit is distilled separately and skillfully blended. The formula is perfected with minimal filtration using white birch charcoal to deliver precise balance and mellow texture.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Soft and rounded with hints of citrus: fresh lemon zest and grapefruit peel. Sweet and creamy notes hide underneath.

Palate: Rich and buttery mouthfeel with a gentle but characterful body: sweetness and citrus with just a hint of spice and savoury cereal.

Finish: Sweetness lingers with a touch of lemon rind sourness.
