Old Malt Cask (OMC) Braeval 14 yrwas distilled in 2009 and rested for 14 years in a single refill Sherry Butt (HL21311) before being bottled at 50% ABV, without added colour or chill filtration.
Built on a mountain ridge in the heart of Speyside, Braeval stands at an altitude of 350m, making it the highest distillery in Scotland. It shares its water source, the Pitilie Burn, with the Highland-based Aberfeldy distillery.
Originally known asBraes of Glenlivet, the distillery was founded by the Chivas and Glenlivet Group in 1973 to supply malt for blends such as Chivas Regal. In 1994, the distillery changed its name to Braeval to avoid confusion with its more famous neighbour.
Total worldwide outturn: 577 bottles
Nose: Salted caramel, tangerine, lemon citrus and fresh wet hay.
Palate: Cloves, fresh vanilla bean and golden raisins.
Finish: Long, with flavours carrying through from the palate.
