Distillery Information
Old Perth is a revival of a blend produced by Peter Thomson whiskies. The firm was founded in 1908 and the Thomson family became one of the great names of Perth whisky blending along with Arthur Bell, John Dewar and the Gloag family of Famous Grouse fame. Old Perth was the premium blend with Beneagles as the more everyday offering. The Thomson family sold up in the 1980s and Old Perth became part of Whyte & Mackay and eventually discontinued. But in 2005, the brand was acquired by a new firm of Morrison & Mackay which was founded by Kenny MacKay, a former employee of Peter Thomson, Rob Starling, and Brian and Jamie Morrison, formerly of Morrison Bowmore. Its now a premium blended malt available in various iterations including a classic offering at 46% ABV, a cask strength version and vintage versions.
