A limited-edition single malt Smokehead from an undisclosed Islay distillery, released on 16 August 2020 to mark International Rum Day. Finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. Bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Hanging out in Caribbean rum casks gives this Smokehead a jolt of immense smoke and fiery peat, followed by soothing citrus and tropical fruits. And is that marshmallow and bacon in there…?
Palate: Face down a fearlessly rich and peaty punch, thick oils and bracing sea spray, tempered with dried spices, banana and dark wood.
Finish: The safety of dry land is in sight. Notes of caramel and cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, add a delicate contrast to the lingering smokiness.
