Description
Taconic Distillery, established in 2013, is a purveyor of fine craft spirits located in the Hudson Valley of New York. Handcrafted award-winning bourbon and rye whiskies are distilled in small batches using the finest ingredients, including grains grown in New York and natural spring water from Taconic’s own property.
For this expression the distillery sends empty barrels used to age bourbon to the Catskill Mountain Sugarhouse where they are filled with maple syrup to season both the syrup and the barrels. Once the syrup is bottled, the casks are refilled with bourbon for finishing.
Nose: Adelightful aroma of whipped strawberry frosting, rye spice, orange, and toffee.
Palate:Seemswell integrated … there is almost a minty coolness that keeps bold flavours of the syrup in check. Mid palate you get cookie batter, sweet corn and a surprising amount of baking spices.
Finish: Long and balanced without the cloying sweetness you sometimes encounter in other flavoured whiskeys.
