Tenmei’s Bear Cup is a single serving junmai from Akebono Shuzo in Fukushima, packed into a polar bear glass that doubles as a collectible. But it’s not just a novelty: there’s serious sake inside. Brewed with a blend of four different rice varieties (Yamada Nishiki, Gohyakumangoku, Kame no O, and Yume no Kaori), it’s remarkably balanced and medium-bodied and satisfying for a little cup, with a dry, ricey character and enough depth to keep things interesting.

Why We Love It

We love this cup because it’s the perfect gift, conversation starter, picnic/beach pull, and solo drinking companion all in one. The polar bear glass alone is worth it (we’ve seen plenty of people come back just for the cup!), but the sake inside is genuinely excellent, medium-bodied, dry, and satisfying.
