After the barley has been fermented, it is distilled twice first through Glenlivets wash still, and then again through Glenlivets spirits still. Originally designed by George Smith, the copper-pot stills have a unique, lantern-like shape, which encourages contact between the whisky and the copper. The copper strips the whisky of any impurities it may have, and provides for a lighter and more pure flavor profile. The Glenlivet Guardians Chapter Single Malt Scotch Whisky was personally selected by The Glenlivet Guardians, a global group of The Glenlivet enthusiasts who, through a series of private tastings, exclusive events and shared commentary, chose their favorite of three single malts crafted by The Glenlivet. The malt chosen was aged in a combination of American oak and Oloroso Sherry casks and has a distinctly spicy character. The Glenlivet Guardians Chapter Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited release which will only be available for a short time.

The Glenlivet Guardians’ Chapter Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Distinctly spicy character. On the nose, rich notes of fruitcake, candied apples and orange marmalade.

Palate: Tastes of juicy raisins and dark chocolate on the palate.

Finish: The finish is accented by tangy orange zest and an underlying spiciness reminiscent of cinnamon toast.

Distillery Information

The Glenlivet distillery is a distillery near Ballindalloch in Moray, Scotland that produces single malt Scotch whisky. It is the oldest legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet, and the production place of the Scottish whisky of the same name. It was founded in 1824 and has operated almost continuously since.
