Description
PRODUCER: Since 1954, Vazart-Coquart Estate has been producing elegant and rich champagnes. The terroir of Chouilly, Grand Cru of the Cte des Blancs, plays host to their 30 plots of vines. Chardonnay is the predominant grape variety on the 11 hectares of vines, supplemented by several hundred square metres where they also grow Pinot Noir.
VINEYARD:Grand Cru vineyards in Chouilly in the Cotes des Blancs with an average vine age of 45 years. Certified organic since 2020.
WINE MAKING:100% Chardonnay with 65% coming from the 2018 vintage, the remainder from a perpetual reserve started in 1982.The wineis vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, and undergoes partial malolactic fermentation.Three years, fivemonths on the lees, finished with a very low 1.5g/l dosage.
TASTING NOTE:It is a champagne which is clear lemon yellow in colour with light flashes of green, and a luxuriant, vivacious effervescence. A touch of gourmandise on the nose with its aromas of pastry, preserved lemon, hazelnuts and almonds is complemented by more subtle notes of acacia blossom, mint and liquorice. The palate is fresh, textured and refined with hints of citrus and a mineral framework characteristic of the Grand Cru terroirs of the Cte des Blancs. The finish is saline, tangy and lightly lemony.
A lovely champagne which will match well with seafood and shellfish.
