Weltenburg Abbey (Kloster Weltenburg): Weltenburg, Germany

Weltenburg Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in Weltenburg near Kelheim on the Danube in Bavaria, Germany. According to tradition, the abbey was founded in about 617 and is the oldest monastery in Bavaria, adopting the Benedictine Rule in the early 8th century. Besides the traditional duties of hospitality, the abbey has pastoral responsibility for two parishes. It is also active in farming and in adult education.
