Distillery Information

Chteau Branas Grand Poujeaux is a wine estate in the Moulis-en-Mdoc appellation, just west of northern Margaux in the Haut-Mdoc region north of Bordeaux city. The estate produces two wines: the eponymous grand vin, Chteau Branas Grand Poujeaux; and the second wine, Les Eclats de Branas Grand Poujeaux. The chteau neighbors the similarly-named Chteau Dutruch Grand Poujeaux both lie on an area known as the Grand Poujeaux plateau at the eastern end of Moulis-en-Mdoc, neighboring the commune of Arcins (the northernmost commune of the Margaux appellation) to the east . The estate lies midway between the well-regarded Chteau Chasse-Spleen (to the south) and Chteau Poujeaux (to the north). The Branas Grand Poujeaux vineyard covers 17 hectares (42 acres) and is planted predominantly to Merlot (50 percent) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45 percent) with the remainder given over to Petit Verdot. Although percentages will fluctuate between vintages and labels, these proportions are roughly reflected in the final wines.
